Restoration 2011 PDF Print E-mail

The museum will be closed again January and February, 2011 for continued restoration. In preparation of the 150th anniversary of the beginning of the Civil War, we plan to do restoration in our military room. Due to previous water damage, layers of wallpaper on the walls and ceiling will be removed, cracks in the walls will be repaired and the room willl be painted. This work will be financed through grant monies and donations.

We are in hopes a second project can be done in the working kitchen. The kitchen was where the sheriff's family prepared their meals and where the matron prepared meals for the prisoners. The kitchen has a tin ceiling that is in need of paint removal and restoration to the original look. We will be seeking donations and grant money for this project also.

The museum operates on donations, memberships and grants for the upkeep of the inside of the building and collection needs.
